Christopher Welsh has been involved with the study of the body for many years. As a posture/movement trainer he has trained actors, dancers, artists, gymnasts, rockclimbers, physios, lay people, and others. He has a background in dance (Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts (Dance), Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, 1990-92), mens artistic gymnastics, indoor/outdoor rockclimbing, and has had experiential training in various integrative bodywork techniques, including Todd ideokinesiology, Alexander, Feldenkrais, Body/Mind Centering, and more. He is a professional dancer with Dance Exchange, Sydney, and teaches contact improvisation and posture and movement efficiency classes (Engraming - the science of movement) to a wide range of professionals and amateurs, offering both private and group sessions both in Tasmania and interstate.
Christopher's interest in understanding and refining the dynamics of ergonomic, organic posture and movement, the body-healing arts, and in rapid recovery from muscular-skeletal injuries (an interest sparked as a result of his own journey of rehabilitation and recovery from various injuries) led him to study and become a practitioner of SMART Bowen. As a complimentary therapy, SMART Bowen facilitates whole body healing, promotes pain relief, stress relief, and recovery of energy. Christopher has found that SMART Bowen brings together much of what he has learned and practised previously, and that it has the potential to significantly improve one's overall physical and mental wellbeing, eliminate the risk of repetitive strain injury, and provide resolution of many chronic problems in addition to those for which one sought therapy.
Treatments last for up to an hour, and can include detailed follow-up postural/movement suggestions if required. Clients typically book in for a series of four sessions at weekly intervals, which are usually sufficient to acheive lasting relief from even long-standing pain, though more are sometimes required.
